Assure Controls Wins Gold Trophy at 'World's Best Technologies' Meeting

Carlsbad, California, April 11, 2006 — Recently Assure Controls was honored and received the Gold Trophy, Best of Show, at The World's Best Technology Showcase, held March 28-29th in Arlington, Texas. Bryan Bjorndal, President and Founder accepted the award from Texas Secretary of State Roger Williams.

The company's first product is a portable and rapid system for detection of contaminants at toxic levels in water. The QwikLiteTM 200 instrument uses sensitive optics and a species of naturally occurring bioluminescent plankton in disposable kits as a means of determining toxicity. When levels of contaminants are at harmful levels, the bioluminescence is reduced or completely eliminated. "This relationship was discovered by the U.S. Navy over ten years ago," Bjorndal explained. "I reviewed the extensive background and scientific literature and then successfully pursued the commercial rights to the patented 'QwikLite' technology. What it needed was an entrepreneurial company with a vision of how to wrap it with the proper form, fit, and function for convenience. The last year has been focused on many improvements, new patents are being filed, and we are on target with our product introduction plans."

Presenters were judged and awards presented on the last day of the conference during a closing ceremony and banquet. "We would like to congratulate Assure Controls as the winner of the Gold Trophy, Best of Show; selected by over 400 participating peers, investors, licensees, and tech-commercialization experts," stated Paul Huleatt, CEO of World's Best Technologies.

International in scope, with companies and technologies from five continents in attendance; the meeting is designed to support the movement of world-class technologies into the marketplace by providing the opportunity for entrepreneurs, scientists, commercialization program managers, and investors to develop new relationships. Presenting technologies were selected solely on the merits of their innovation and the investment or licensing opportunity.
