Paris, France, June 13-15, 2016 – Ocean scientists, policy makers, ocean science education professionals, and industry leaders representing over 17 nations will convene this week at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris for the 2016 Global Ocean Science Education Workshop. The conference provides the opportunity for the global ocean science community to build stronger connections and engage in three days of ocean related topics. Assure Controls, Inc. has been asked to join as an industry representative on the panel “Blue Economy and Workforce Needs”, June 14th 11:00am. Along with four other panelists from Italy, Brazil, Belgium, and the USA, the panel will discuss examples of maritime and ocean business needs as it relates to workforce and industry education, training, and employment.
This is the second the Global Ocean Science Education Workshop (GOSE); the Paris conference is led by UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) in partnership with the Consortium for Ocean Science Exploration and Engagement (COSEE) and the College of Exploration.
Assure Controls CEO, Bryan Bjorndal, will present on the San Diego maritime-cluster as an economic sector, describe the role of San Diego-based The Maritime Alliance, and provide an overview of the company’s education, training and compliance support product offering. The company’s role and involvement with the Technology Careers Institute (Mira Costa College) will be a featured example of industry and academic partnering to meet the needs in workforce development of the Blue Economy.
